The day one million Cubs became reality
The One Millionth Cubs Card
Wrigley Field · April 5, 2024
For years, one million Chicago Cubs cards was an audacious goal—a number that sounded almost impossible when the project began. On April 5, 2024, that pursuit became real in the most fitting place imaginable: Wrigley Field.
A welcome from the Chicago Cubs
The Chicago Cubs marked the milestone before the game with a custom jersey made for the occasion. The back carried my name, the number 1 and the unforgettable designation: 1M Cubs.
Outside the ballpark, the Wrigley Field marquee displayed a message congratulating me on reaching one million Cubs cards. Seeing the project recognized on one of baseball’s most famous landmarks was surreal.

Pregame on the field and in the dugout
Before the game, I was invited onto the field and had time to talk with Cubs legend Kerry Wood. I also stepped inside the Cubs dugout and spent time with pitcher Jordan Wicks—two experiences that made an already remarkable day even more personal.

The ceremonial first pitch
Then came the walk to the mound. Wearing the custom 1M Cubs jersey, I threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Wrigley Field. What began as a personal collecting challenge had grown into a community story—and now it was being celebrated on the field where Cubs history lives.
Standing on the field at Wrigley with card No. 1,000,000 in my hand is a moment I’ll never forget.
The one millionth card
After the first pitch came the final surprise. I was presented with the official one millionth Cubs card—an officially licensed Topps baseball card featuring me. Topps made the milestone card a true one-of-one: the 1/1 Superfractor.
It was the perfect card to represent the project. One collector, one million Cubs cards, one unique Topps card—and a day at Wrigley Field that brought the entire journey together.
