A Mikey2Trades Kind Of Day

Not exactly a Mikey2Trades kind of day, because one of my two packages on Thursday was an eBay purchase. But the other package was from @Mikey2Trades from Twitter.

Many people reach out to me and ask if I buy Cubs cards. Short answer is no. Long answer is it depends on the price, if I have it, and if I want it. Every now and then I take to eBay and search for Cubs.

One such day I placed a bid on a Bowman Sterling Nico Hoerner autograph. There was a few days left in the auction and I submitted a bid with the maximum amount I would pay. Many people think this isn’t the way to utilize eBay, as you should wait until the last minute and snipe. Pish posh. I’ve been bidding on eBay auctions since 1998, and I’m not changing my strategy. Now get off my lawn.

Oh…here’s the Nico Hoerner Bowman Sterling autograph. I ended up getting it for $11.29 shipped, which was less than I expected based on his call-up and success early on in the big leagues.

Mikey2Trades sent a box of 396 Cubs baseball cards. Something I would like to do in my Mailday posts is feature a random Cubs player that’s included in a package. In my last post, I highlighted a stack of Keith Moreland baseball cards. Here’s a few Jody Davis cards. Davis suited up for the Cubs for most of the 1980’s. The catcher made his MLB debut with Chicago in 1981, and was traded to the Atlanta Braves in late September 1988.

Another Cubs fan favorite was Randy Hundley.

I just ran into Hundley two weeks ago at the Larry Pogofsky All Star Challenge. Randy signed a baseball for me.

The trumpet-playing Carmen Fanzone makes an appearance on a 1973 Topps card.

Finally, I don’t have too many of these All Star stamped cards from 2018 Topps.

And this is a Javier Baez card. A great addition to my Baez collection.
