During the 2006 campaign, Aardsma appeared in 45 games for the Cubs throwing 53 innings all in relief. He did post a 3-0 win-loss record with 49 strikeouts and 28 walks.

His nine-year Major League baseball career came to an end during the 2015 season while playing for the Atlanta Braves. His last appearance? Against the Chicago Cubs. The first batter he faced was Kris Bryant…who hit a home run to deep centerfield. Aardsma then got Miguel Montero to line out and followed that up with back-to-back strikeouts of Jorge Soler and Jason Hammel.
