The One Million Cubs Project Sorta Monday Mailbag

One package did arrive in my mailbox Monday. Thanks to Mannis Cards for the trade. I sent him some 2018 Topps Yankees cards in exchange for some Javier Baez cards. A bulk of my Monday haul actually came in on Sunday. A few months ago I saw a tweet from SSCards16 who had acquired 50Continue reading “The One Million Cubs Project Sorta Monday Mailbag”

Another 2,406 Cubs Cards Added To The One Million Cubs Project This Week

Eight trades highlighted a week that added 2,406 Cubs cards to the collection, which surpassed 123,000 cards this week. That number will continue to rise as I am still sorting out the Cubs from the truckload of cards acquired at the end of last week. Monday’s mailbox gave me three packages. Two were from trades.Continue reading “Another 2,406 Cubs Cards Added To The One Million Cubs Project This Week”

The Legend of Gary Scott and Jay Johnstone's Headwear

Monday marked a first in the One Million Cubs Project. It was my first mailday that was packaged in a Sock Monkey box. Points for style. Inside, Adam from California sent 325 Cubs cards. A unique Ryne Sandberg awaited at the bottom of the box. How cool is this?! A framed 80’s oddball Sandberg alongContinue reading “The Legend of Gary Scott and Jay Johnstone's Headwear”

One Million Cubs Project Adds More Than 5,000 Cards This Week

Through nine trades and two purchases, the One Million Cubs Project added 5,526 cards to the collection this week. It only took four days to reach that number after coming home to an empty mailbox Monday and Tuesday. Four packages from three traders arrived on Wednesday for a daily total of 1,899 cards. A bulkContinue reading “One Million Cubs Project Adds More Than 5,000 Cards This Week”

The Ebay Rabbit Hole Cubs Shopping Spree Cards Are In

Last week I blogged about jumping into a rabbit hole that led to a shopping spree on eBay. It all started with a Bobby Brownlie search that led me to an eBay seller with a Brownlie Bowman autographed card, and many other Cubs prospects that missed from that era. Not only that, he had aContinue reading “The Ebay Rabbit Hole Cubs Shopping Spree Cards Are In”

Mailday Saturday: Pre-Rookie Ryne Sandberg

Throughout the years I have had many Cubs cards on my want list. Last week, one set was scratched off that list when I acquired a sealed complete set of 1990 Topps TV. This week, another card has been crossed off that want list, but this one will not count toward the One Million CubsContinue reading “Mailday Saturday: Pre-Rookie Ryne Sandberg”

What Pulled Me Away From My Beloved Chicago Cubs in the 1990's

In my recent post about securing Pearl Jam tickets for their Wrigley Field concert, several Twitter followers began discussing their favorite 1990’s (and 1980’s) bands. One tweeter mentioned the Presidents of the United States of America. That brought back a flood of memories. The band that brought us “Lump” and “Peaches” was the first compactContinue reading “What Pulled Me Away From My Beloved Chicago Cubs in the 1990's”

One Million Cubs Project on Pearl Jam

No mail came today, but there were two packages in the mailbox Monday. The first, from Mark, contained the vintage I blogged about yesterday. The second package was the 20-card lot of 1990 Topps TV cards I purchased from eBay last week. When time permits, I’ll do a full post on the Cubs Topps TVContinue reading “One Million Cubs Project on Pearl Jam”

What's On My Wall Wednesday: The Cubs Ball Wall

Since I have a limited amount of walls, this piece will be for a limited time only. Tonight’s kickoff to “What’s On My Wall Wednesday,” is by far my favorite wall of my basement. It’s “The Ball Wall.” I didn’t begin collecting autographed baseballs until 2013. A few times each summer, my friend Dave andContinue reading “What's On My Wall Wednesday: The Cubs Ball Wall”

Shiny Cards – Dumping Chase Utley for Cubs

This hobby is great. As I attempt to collect one Million Cubs cards, even Cubs collectors are joining the cause. In my latest trade, Cubs fan Jake in Missouri generously traded me 55 Cubs cards in exchange for a pile of Chase Utley cards. And the hobby circle is smaller than we realize sometimes. AsContinue reading “Shiny Cards – Dumping Chase Utley for Cubs”
